Verdict
Goodcall is for the owner who wants the phone covered this week, not after a project. It answers, captures who called and why, handles the common questions and routes the rest. There is no human backup and the booking side runs through integrations, so if your business lives and dies by the calendar, weigh that carefully. Plans start at $79 a month per agent with unlimited minutes; the catch is that Goodcall counts unique customers, not minutes, and the Starter plan keeps call details for only a week.
This is an Editorial Preview. We have not published a numeric rating for Goodcall because our structured testing is not complete. Facts below are sourced and dated; anything unverified is labeled.
Strengths
- Quick to set up for a single-location business
- Unlimited minutes on every plan, so long calls cost nothing extra
- Entry price of $79 per agent per month ($66 annual)
Limitations
- Metered by unique customers: 100 on Starter, then $0.50 each
- Starter retains call details for only 7 days
- No human backup
- Scheduling and CRM depth not stated on the pricing page
Who this is for
Goodcall makes the most sense for a single-location business whose main frustration is simple: the phone rings, nobody is free, the caller goes to the next name on the list. A cleaning company, a lawn crew, a small auto shop. If you mostly need someone to pick up, find out what the caller wants, and get it to you, Goodcall is built for that job and not much more.
What happens when someone calls
Goodcall answers, collects the caller's details, answers the questions you have taught it (hours, services, whether you do that kind of work) and routes requests on to you. It can transfer calls to your team when needed. What it does not do is put a live human on the line; if a caller needs a person, that person is you or someone who works for you.
Booking is the part to look at closely. Goodcall's public materials describe scheduling through integrations rather than a built-in calendar check, and we have not verified how deep the native booking goes. If you have never used an AI on your phone line before, our explainer on how AI receptionists work shows where booking fits in the flow.
Setting it up
The whole pitch is speed. Goodcall positions itself as something you connect to a number, answer a few questions about your business, and switch on, without a long implementation. That is a real advantage for an owner who does not want another project. The price of that simplicity is that you get less say over what happens after the call than you would with a builder or a service-business tool.
Picture a normal Tuesday. You are under a sink, the phone rings, Goodcall picks up. It finds out the caller has a water heater that quit, takes their name and number, tells them you serve their neighborhood, and sends the details to you. That is the job Goodcall is designed for, and for a lot of owners that alone pays for itself. What it will not do on that Tuesday is check your calendar, pick a free slot and confirm it; that part still comes back to you. Goodcall's public materials also mention some text follow-up, though how much is unverified.
What it costs
We checked goodcall.com/pricing on September 7, 2026. Goodcall prices per agent, and every plan comes with unlimited minutes, so a long call never costs extra. Starter is $79 a month ($66 if you pay annually), Growth is $129 ($108 annual) and Scale is $249 ($208 annual). Instead of minutes, Goodcall counts customers: 100 unique customers a month on Starter, 250 on Growth and 500 on Scale, then $0.50 for each additional one. For most small businesses that is a generous meter, but it is a different way of thinking about the bill, so count your unique callers rather than your minutes.
The other thing to notice is how long Goodcall keeps your records. Starter holds call and customer details for only 7 days, Growth for 30 days, and Scale keeps them indefinitely. If you want to look back at last month's calls to see who you never called back, Starter will not let you. There is a free trial, though the pricing page does not say how long it runs, and no setup fees are listed.
Where it falls short
- No human receptionists at all. Escalation means transferring to your own team.
- Less depth for job scheduling and dispatch than tools built around a calendar.
- Customization is shallower than the no-code builders, which is fine until you need something unusual.
- Starter keeps call and customer details for only 7 days, and the pricing page does not name its integrations.
Our take for owners
If your problem is 'I just need the phone answered,' Goodcall is a fair answer and an easy one to get started with. If your problem is 'I need those calls turned into booked jobs,' you will probably outgrow it, and Torklio's calendar check and lead grading are the reason. If you want the least setup of all, look at Rosie next.

Frequently asked questions
Can Goodcall book appointments on my calendar?
Its public materials point to scheduling through integrations. We have not verified how much booking it does natively, so ask before you count on it.
Does Goodcall have live receptionists?
No. Calls that need a person are transferred to you or your team.
Is Goodcall priced monthly?
Yes. As of September 7, 2026 it is $79, $129 or $249 a month per agent (15% less if you pay annually), with unlimited minutes on every plan. The meter is unique customers, 100, 250 or 500 a month by plan, at $0.50 each beyond that.
Goodcall or Rosie?
Both are simple. Goodcall gives you a bit more routing and call handling with unlimited minutes from $79; Rosie starts cheaper at $49 for 250 minutes but leans even harder toward just taking a message on that plan.
